Marlow Something WIcked Key West Mysteries Book 6 eBook Bill Craig Reviews
Great book! I love the marlow series, Bill Craig has a few good series I read.
I liked this book but not as much as the rest of his books.
I've enjoyed this series, but this book really highlighted the drawbacks of self-publishing. With all the plots going on, it became very confusing when there was absolutely no break to let the you know the thread was switching to a different plot. Usually the kindle version has a italicized heading or set of tildes between plots... but I found myself many times all of a sudden realizing that the new paragraph had switched from what Marlowe was thinking too what Dawes or some other character was thinking or doing. To top it off, 55% of the way into this book, a major development is revealed (Dawe's twin in Chicago). Then 71% of the way in this development is reintroduced as "fresh news". It looks to me like a rewrite that never had the old part deleted.
Anyways, the read is pretty good, but there is a real need for an editor that can proof (there were also lots of misspellings...). I read about 200 books a year... this is the first time I've felt compelled to leave a review of this nature. Hopefully Bill Craig will clean up the technical quality of his books, they are a fun read if you can get past those issues!
Okay, first of all I have read all previous books in the Marlowe series so there's definitely something that appeals to me. I think it's the characters themselves. I enjoy following Marlowe and the others through the entire timeframe of the series ande seeing the growth and changes that take place.
I have to agree with some other reviewers, however, that the books are seriously in need of editing and proofreading. Situations are repeated as if we never heard of it before, subplots are dropped quickly and become more of a distraction than an addition to the story, and the author believes that I need to know the current fashions everyone is wearing in every scene.
Mr. Craig should also learn the difference between "too" and "to" as well as "further" and "farther" before writing his next book. One of my pet peeves is that professional writers should know the English language.I must admit though, that I'm beginning to enjoy hunting for the mistakes so maybe he should leave them in.
Bottom line I liked the book, I liked all of them, and I will continue to read books by this author. If you like Key West and mysteries, then you'll probably like this book.
Plenty of action, plenty of twits and turns. If your like me and enjoy keys based books, jump to the start and enjoy.....
Another fun, fast paced thrill ride in the Marlow Key West Mystery series. An entertaining series that continues to deliver the goods.
What a wild ride. At one point there were five subplots unfolding as other characters helped Marlowe bring the situations under control. A good read.
great series, and really enjoyed this story and writing
